Summer is finally here and it’s time to invest some time in your garden and yard. Having a beautiful backyard oasis and little veggie garden is a wonderful way to spend some calming time outside, but gardening can wreak havoc on your skin. Here are a few pointers for the avid gardener, using DANI Natural products and tips.
When gardening it’s common to be elbows deep in dirt, which means your hands can take a bit of a beating. Dirt is extremely drying to your skin, so it’s important to take some preventative measures before you plunge into that bag of potting soil.
Wearing gloves is recommended of course, but there are a couple additional steps you can take to ensure that your skin doesn’t dry out. You can wear gardening gloves or even take it a step further and wear surgical latex gloves.
Try adding a thick layer of your favorite moisturizer or organic lotion before you put your gloves on. This will keep your skin moisturized while you work. The added benefit of applying lotion first is that any dirt that finds its way into your gloves will stick to your lotion. The essential oils and moisturizers in your lotion will trap dirt, and be washed right off with your moisturizer after you’re done gardening.
A great tool for getting dirt out from under nails and scrubbing hands clean is a nail brush. Find a smaller brush and use it to scrub hands clean. Another great way to clean hands after a gardening session, is to use a sugar scrub made with essential oils. Using a sugar scrub will clean all of the dirt particles off of your hands, all while leaving your hands super smooth. The scrub will also moisturize your hands with ingredients like all natural shea butter and essential oils.
If you find you’re constantly gardening, it’s important to have a care regiment for keeping your hands moisturized, soft and clean. A great way to keep up with your skin is to always have a bottle of organic lotion around. Try using DANI Naturals hand lotion to keep your skin nice and soft after a weeding session. If you keep up with your skincare after gardening, soon you’ll be harvesting veggies and enjoying the benefits of your garden, and your skin will thank you.
